- The first video is taken from the side: notice that my wrist and hand remain still while the 3rd finger lifts and drops from the base knuckle.
- The second video is a “violinist’s view”, to show you what the finger movement looks like from a player’s viewpoint.
- When playing 3rd finger on the D, A and E strings, the open string below will resonate ‘in sympathy’ when the notes are exactly and octave apart. This creates a bright, ringing sound – listen out for this to help you get the notes really well in tune.
