This video demonstrates “Allegro in the Style of Telemann” from page 64 of Violinworks Book 2. This piece uses several different bowing techniques:

  • The detached crotchets should be played with a light, slightly staccato bow stroke.
  • In bars 9-10 use linked staccato up bow strokes to play the pairs of hooked crotchets.
  • In bars 26 and 28 use lifted up-bow strokes to play the staccato crotchets at the beginning of the bar.
  • In bars 13-16 and 42-45 the quaver-dotted crotchet rhythm is played using circular bowing.
